YOGA THERAPY.png

Yoga Therapy is a specialized, clinical approach tailored to individual needs, emphasizing a science-based methodology

that integrates biomedical and psychological principles.

A Yoga therapist's knowledge encompasses the organ systems, allowing for a deeper understanding of how physical ailments and diseases manifest, alongside the implications of various treatment options and medication side effects. Furthermore, they are equipped with insights into mental health, recognizing the profound connection between mind and body. With specialized training in somatic counseling and trauma-informed care, yoga therapists approach each individual with sensitivity and awareness, ensuring that therapeutic practices are not only effective but also nurturing and supportive.

This holistic perspective, viewed through the lens of

Yoga Therapy, empowers clients to achieve greater

wellness and resilience in both body and mind.

In Yoga Therapy - the depth of training, the nature of the student-teacher relationship, and the overall objectives of each path are profoundly different. In contrast, Yoga Teacher Training focuses on teaching skills and the art of instruction, a more general approach.

How Yoga Therapy Helps With Anxiety:

Regulation of the Nervous System

  • Breathing exercises (Pranayama): These practices help activate the parasympathetic nervous system (the “rest and digest” response), which counteracts the stress-induced fight-or-flight response.

  • Techniques like deep diaphragmatic breathing, alternate nostril breathing, and extended exhalations can calm the mind and reduce physical symptoms of anxiety.

Behavioral Shifts

Yoga therapy encourages lifestyle changes, such as better sleep hygiene, healthier eating habits, and regular physical activity, all of which contribute to reducing anxiety over time.

Physical Postures
(Asanas)

  • Specific yoga postures can release tension in the body, improve circulation, and reduce the physical stress stored in muscles.

  • Gentle, restorative poses such as Child’s Pose, Forward Folds, and Legs-Up-the-Wall can help soothe the nervous system.

Stress Management

  • Yoga therapy teaches relaxation techniques that can help individuals manage stress more effectively.

  • Practices like guided relaxation (Yoga Nidra) can be particularly effective in reducing chronic stress and anxiety.

Mindfulness and Meditation

  • Meditation and mindfulness practices within yoga therapy help individuals develop greater awareness of their thoughts and feelings.

  • These practices can reduce the impact of anxious thoughts by encouraging a non-judgmental attitude and promoting a sense of inner calm.
